A teacher shouldn't tell you can't take art because of your style! even if it was manga that's really not fair.
Last year, I was taking an sculpting class at school and we had to sketch what we were going to make. My evil teacher told me that my art was to cartoony and kicked me out of the class

Everyone has their own style that's bullshit that she's not letting you take her class.

I agree with vanillatwilight: art is art, and you should be able to take whatever class you want to regarding art. don't change your style please- i love it as it is. you don't need him to teach you anyway. any art teacher that restricts art based on style alone isn't open minded enough (and therefore not creative enough) to be an art teacher at all!

I think sometimes you can make it look anime-style, but I also think that it can also look realistic in a way. I agree with Jippers, I don't like when fine arts teachers don't have an open mind and think new styles of art like anime and rock music aren't real forms of art. I understand if she may have high expectations for the class especially if it's AP or honours or something like that, but isn't it a teacher's job to teach someone how to do it a certain way?
I think the best kind of art, is art that breaks the mold of what people think it to be.

Don't actually say that, but just say to your teacher how do you expect me to improve in other areas of art if you ain't even gonna let me do it?
I ended up telling my art teacher about herself, and at the end of it I got to do art lol.
But she had it in for me all the time after that}
